The Beautiful Manager

By the side of a highway…On the pedestrian platform…..One small foldable table and a stool, few flowers of jasmine, marigold, green leave and threads. This is what her enterprise, and capital investment in terms of money. The grace in which the trade is being carried on ….which cannot be measured by any metric system of economics. A matchless harmony in which she does the business. Busy threading the flowers…focused only in threading….nothing does seem to bother her. Either the vehicles passing by or the pedestrians walking across. The selling and buying happens in between as naturally as a gentle breeze passing us…I presume this is one place women doesn’t attempt to bargain!..

Every day almost every day…week day or holiday, rainy or hot and humid day….ordinary or festive day. The enterprise is still on and the business as usual. A silent transaction …No hawking….No canvassing ….No convincing of customers…

What a beautiful manager she is! She knows the trade, the demand and supply, purchase each and every nuances of her trade. As the commodity she sells is a perishable item, how meticulous the planning and execution should be, so that the profit to be ensured.

What a beautiful managers these flower and fruit vendors are…I tend to measure myself with these off Harvard and off IIM managers….intend to observe and learn from them….how they make things look very simple and smooth…and as natural as possible.

The flowers on the table do not fail themselves to teach me wisdom that what a beautiful life we have when compared to those short lived beautiful flowers….life is worth living and living happily with out complaining …making things simple and natural….
