An Alien Value System…

Time and again when I am served a cup of tea on my office desk, I make an attempt to thank the person who serves it to me as a part of her work…. Why should I or somebody like me should thank a person for doing something part of their work for which they paid for?

Someone may advocate that thanking all the time may not be required!

What am I doing when the security person wishes me in the morning ,the very first thing happens to me in any working day as I come to the office…..am I ignoring him and rush through the office?… Am I too numb and cold to wish him back? ….or am I generous to wish him back with the same gratitude and humanness?

I believe that the value system of me (us) deeply in a declining phase as I link all my reactions towards others based on the subjective judgment to a person’s material wealth, professional status and of course the educational qualification and so on…. What a strange attitude of practicing discrimination even to keep simplest values like paying respect and reciprocating with humanness and kindness…

In the office space I hardly smile at someone from another department or from different floor. Neither an attempt to talk nor an attempt to know their names even though facing them every now and then walking across the stairs.

It raises sensible questions in me … Am I keeping those simplest values am taught about? Whether my value system has aliened? Even if I am not mindful of those values? Why I haven’t seen somebody keeping those values with me? I am hopeful of getting answers soon? Or will I alien further more?

I can hear someone telling that in the global village and global economy, whether values are worth talking!

In the process of my thoughts I remind about something once my master told ,In the celebration of life the most important are those end values not the mean values! Let me hold something of those! And let me not alien further more!

A slap on my face!

I am staying in a typical Bachelor’s room situated on the second floor of a house, a single room with an attached bath, having a separate stairs to go from the ground floor. People who stay in the ground and first floor will come to the second floor terrace for two reasons

1. To keep Prasadam for the crows in the morning .I think sometime why I am not a crow, even crows will get sympathy; bachelors are untouchables even now especially when they stay alone!
2.To hang their wash for drying.

All these times somebody will accompany the other as both the above duties are performed mostly by the Ladies (Guys don’t get angry as many of us do these works to pacify our ladies).

Those are the times when I use to see somebody on the terrace I felt like living in a Country Side …all other times felt being lonely in a Jungle.

But that little happiness of seeing people too eroded from my mind, as no one was interested to talk or smile at me. Now a day I am not Bothered and not even Interested to know who is coming and going, it is not going to be any different.

There are no expectations for me from my Neighbors. I understand that they too not going to anticipate anything from me. No trust, No expectations, No basic respect and Anticipation, No Ray of Hope for any kind of relationship further. I amuse at, whether something called a Society exist only in Clubs, Temples, Churches, Masque and Guruthwaras. Here lanes and streets are made up of buildings not peoples. Only drainage system connects each house Neither Trust Nor Hope and Brotherhood. A strange thing for a person like me from a mini town with people of caring, loving and courteous. Adoptability is our strength as a bird from a rural flock. Lonely roaring is not going to be difficult at all. Alright let the lament stop here…

It was a Sunday morning, my biological clock was two hours behind the Indian standard time, and there is always one hour difference between my waking up from sleep and getting up from cot…..

I should get ready fast so that I can attend the church for Sunday service at 10 am….

After finishing the crow bath, got ready in no time…

As I was sitting on the chair to put my socks and shoes…somebody approached my room door and was looking inside…..

I looked up and she was there, a Smiling Beauty.

I asked her what is your name. She said Ananthra…with a smile in her face like a sunflower….

I said my name is Arther Paul, like a Parading Army Officer with a Ginger Face…

She Exclaimed! Woh! Beautiful name!

I asked her what is the meaning for her name as I am hearing a name like this for the first time….. It means Sweet she said…..

Then she asked for the meaning of my name…I was named after a Saint Paul according to the Holy Bible I replied……

I asked her what standard are you in and is it holiday nowadays….

She said that she is in Third Standard and it is Thasara holidays…Now my face started brighten up…..and asked her how many are there in her home ,what is her father and all….the conversation went on like that…

As the conversation progressed further, like a conventional person as she was looking like a north Indian, I asked this question “Are you a north Indian?

Ananthra replied, “I don’t know I am an Indian” that’s what I know…..

I shocked and surprised by the answer ….then suddenly she said she is going and ran fast with an innocent smile …

I do not know whether Ananthra answered knowingly or unknowingly ….A typical, conventional Indian like me...It was like A Slap On My Face…what realization we all should have for beyond being south ,north this and that identities is INDIAN !

Discrimination and favoritism on the basis of regional and linguistic basis is condemnable and disgustful …..In knowledge based society…..

I have consciously made a decision that when I meet somebody next time I should not ask questions something like this… and whenever I see somebody I wish to see through the wisdom and eyes of Ananthra…..what about you my friend…..

This is why rich get richer and poor get poorer

In case anyone wants to try to comprehend the scale of corruption in our Motherland, 70 lakh crores is $1.4 Trillion ... Latest update after Swiss Bank has agreed to disclose the

• Funds &. Our Indians' Money - 70, 00,000 Crores Rupees in Swiss Bank

• Yes, 70 lakhs crores rupees of India are lying in Switzerland banks. This is the highest amount lying outside any country, from amongst 180 countries of the world, as if India is the champion of Black Money.

• Swiss Government has officially written to Indian Government that they are willing to inform the details of holders of 70 lakh crore rupees in their Banks, if Indian Government officially asks them.

• On 22-5-08, this news has already been published in The Times of India and other Newspapers based on Swiss Government's official letter to Indian Government.

• But the Indian Government ha s not sent any official enquiry to Switzerland for details of money which has been sent outside India between 1947 and 2008. The opposition party is also equally not interested in doing so because most of the amount is owned by politicians and it is every Indian's money.

• This money belongs to our country. From these funds we can repay 13 times of our country's foreign debt. The interest alone can take care of the Centers yearly budget. People need not pay any taxes and we can pay Rs. 1 lakh to each of 45 crore poor families.

• Let us imagine, if Swiss Bank is holding Rs. 70 lakh Crores, then how much money is lying in other 69 Banks? How much they have deprived the Indian people? Just think, if the Account holder dies, the bank becomes the owner of the funds in his account.

• Are these people totally ignorant about the philosophy of Karma? What will this ill-gotten wealth do to them and their families when they own/use such money, generated out of corruption and exploitation?

• Indian people have read and have known about these facts. But the helpless people have neither time nor i nclination to do anything in the matter. This is like "a new freedom struggle" and we will have to fight this.

• This money is the result of our sweat and blood. The wealth generated and earned after putting in lots of mental and physical efforts by Indian people must be brought back to our country.

• As a service to our motherland and your contribution to this struggle, please circulate at least 10 copies of this note amongst your friends and relatives and convert it into amass movement.

• Make an attempt to write to Prime minister of India, to instigate him to act formidably.

Pleasant Surprise

As you are passing through this passage, you will come to know that the surprise is from the west and it is worth mentioning as it has happened through the net.

The other day when I was browsing through the net I went into a link of Citizen Commission on Human Rights of United States of America (www.cchr.org). Many accidental unexpected searches will end up in some good findings. At times we start to search for something and end up finding something else of irrelevant things which we feel equally happy about it.

One horrifying dull image welcomed me into the site and the pop up icon appeared got my attention, and which reads like this “Avail free CD of Making a Killing: The Untold Story of Psychotropic Drugging.

It was an award winning documentary film .As being a Pharmacist myself and my grandma is taking such medications, fully aware of the consequences she faces due to those psychotropic drugs ,I was curious to get the CD and know more(Only because it is free!). Anticipating for nothing, keeping in mind that I may or may not get it. I filled in the application with my postal address and mail id. I did not have any expectation that the CD should come to me as it has to come from US and of free of cost. My conventional Indian mind set peeped and said, just things won’t happen that easy with a simple request…what can happen with a single mail…or a single word said or unsaid…pessimistic way of looking into everything!

Even big processions, protests and human cry may not get a bit of attention here...when the population is about 120 crore …who cares if a 200 died of swine flu and a 50 died of a boat mishap or the flood took hundreds of souls year after year and the road accidents take lives every day.

No one seems to care or dare to ask a question. No one feels comfortable to ask right questions .Fear of lose is overpowered the pleasures of gain…anguish all the way…

Almost 10 days latter I was pleasantly surprised to get the CD in good condition, packed with care and elegance, personally addressed to me with a covering letter thanking my interest and encouraging me to introduce the same to my friends and requesting me to write for more number of copies if I would like to distribute myself.

The film is worth watching and better to be informed about the other side of the drugs, the side effects ….and how marketing drive the approval and sale of such drugs…even in the country where the regulations are stringent…..

Salute to the US way of educating common people…and Indian way of ignoring common interests and playing the world renowned game the Blame Game!

Is It worth Boosting too much?

It was 7th October 2009…6.45 in the morning…….woke up with yawning, opened the door to get my bed coffee...Yes there is the day’s news paper…it was so fresh and rejuvenating the first sip…I mean the first news…. “Chemistry Nobel for Indian born scientist Venketraman Ramakrishna”….rushed through all other news more of flood affected area photos and relevant news and Karnataka governments appeal to the public to donate for relief work…that appeal is being appearing almost every day since last ten days or so …even though I empathize with the people who affected due to flood, lost their loved ones lives, dream built shelter, hard earned belongings, testimonial and sympathize for them for the turmoil they have to undergo before things get normal to them.

I welcome people who generously donate. But still it is heartening to know that most of donated clothes were fit only to be disposed and burned and the foods were sent gone straight to the ditches….cant blame the people alone as they have to keep in mind their Dewali purchase and budget…

Are these wealthy politicians donating anything apart from making request to public during these times of misery? The answer is a clear no. they release all their black and white money only during the time of election to buy the voters and vow them…Eventhough they know how to rise funds from industrialists for their election expenditures, they don’t want to explore that resource when people are in real need…..they knew this resource of corporate funding is for their time of election….this anger took the yawning away, warmed my blood a bit …..

When Amrithia Sen got Nobel Prize we excited as because he was an Indian born American. When Kalpana Chawla went to space we exclaimed as she was also an Indian born American. …the same way we are happy about Venketraman Ramakrishna …He made all the Indians feel proud! Being an Indian born American!

Whether they could have reached to these feats if they lived and worked in India. The country obsessed with individual performances and high commands. In our system individual islands of excellence wont come together to make a brilliant team to achieve great heights whether it is sports or research.

We may tend to forget the fact that these indigenous Indians gone to those heights only because of their collaborative efforts and support from the foreign land…they went to make a living …a decent living …and out of which these honors are coming….

They realize and testify the wealth of knowledge we have…in our country…do we realize and recognize our fellow colleagues potential ?.Instead of competing among ourselves if we collaborate …then indigenously we will achieve such honors.

I think it is premature and not worth boosting too much….

Still we have to learn to make effective teams to work collaboratively to achieve great things….let us wont take undue credits and live in fantasy...Knowing the best are yet to come from the west!!

No Horn Please

The more we change the more we remain the same. Is it true! The frustrating travelling of just two kilometers up and down from office to room every day brought in me the above famous quote of someone. I anticipate the future will face the problem of insufficiency of very basic and essential freedom and necessities. Pure air, hygienic water, sound sleep, genuine love, and peace of mind, true happiness and joy, trust worthy brotherhood and friendship and good health and on ….all basic things may come with a prize tag! The moral now to keep is not to take anything for granted!

Sooner than later time will come people prefer walking to save time rather wasting time on the roads amides heavy traffic…bicycles may be brought back…as it is a healthier way of commuting…as emails get delivered much latter than the postal letters ,due to network traffic, the delivery is not reliable and are not confidential…

We may start write letters to communicate faster, safer and to keep it confidential….due to the scarcity of electricity people will keep aside their laptops and desktops and work with paper and pencil…using mobile may be considered as a bad habit as compared to smoking and drinking…and de addiction centers may creep up to treat them…and so the specialist doctors on this subject…internet addiction may get capital punishment?….

As I was held up in the traffic on a flyover near Mukunda theatre …my fancy thought evolved around some funny ideas like that….I asked one local person to know that the flyover has been build since four or five years now… I wonder at the government’s foolish futuristic view and the blind vision about something called future. The engineer who might have drawn the plan and constructed it, we may have to warrant him to go up and down in the traffic for his life time…what a narrow plan! He has planned, proposed and executed.

Amides all this agony there comes a siren of an ambulance…no one seeming to pave way…this is quite common in this city that the ambulance get stranded in the suffocative traffic and narrow roads .Commuters might have been saturated with the horn sounds so as not to distinguish a siren of an ambulance…things and ways of their own is important than somebody’s life…and the lives of someone around the victims…what an insensitive, irresponsible commuters we are! ….

It looks like as if we are saying to the ambulances …please do not make noise and No Horn Please!

We Can Make A Difference

A small act of kindness will not go waste…when we show wheat ....will reap wheat only…law of nature is formidable.

what ought to be done to bring a change in a system may be a mounting task…but still taking a small stone out of a leap will make a difference…the light which I hold need not to show way for the entire world …it is still worth the light if it guides the person next to me…..in the human history meaningful acts of small magnitude have brought difference of great magnitude and anticipated changes….our sensible actions need not to be the reactants for a reaction ….still they can be a catalyst to initiate or stimulate a process…

What a great difference it can make an act of smile …an act of Applause...Or a pat on the shoulder….a small recognition will take our fellow friend, kid ,boss or even subordinate to great heights…..are we going to make the small act for a meaningful change…..

Equally a small act of negligence and deviation will make things worse and put people hostile…….
….a small act of carelessness….a small act of lethargy…..a small hole in a flying parachute….put life and relationships in risk

Bunch of these small acts make what we are and what our life is….
As Aristotle said ….you are what you repeatedly do….let us do the small act of kindness, love, care, appreciation,,,,,,

A small act may bring a great difference in our lives……

we can not pretend our self something great…

We Are What We Repeatedly Do…

Monday Morning Blues

It was one another Monday morning …..I may be one among someone of you suffering with the Monday Morning Blues ever since school days….

Walking to school on a Monday morning was a labor then…..still the struggle of fighting with Monday morning continues…

Punctuality and Monday morning shares no cordial relationship ….they are strange friends….

It was 8.30 …half an hour left to touch the barometric meter in the office…..

The breakfast is as important as dinner and lunch….can’t miss any one of these on any given day…..yet to learn the trade of fasting...…

Rushed in to the motel and having breakfast….Thought were revolved around God for sometime…Monday may be another perfect day like any other day to remember him the most highness …..Why am I had to distinguish Sunday to Monday….

Even God has a preference to holy ones over unholy ones. Among the holy the holiest may be his choice.

When all were his creatures the holy and unholy one….even the God seems to have his favorites….

We have our favorites without any exception. Food, Dress, Friends, Relatives, Cine Heros, Heroines, Subordinates, Games, Players, Tourist Spot…under the earth any subject matter for that matter. We greatly differ in terms of our favorites……even among the days in a week we have our favorites …

Even the one who advocates Globalism, Equalism and Socialism….do so because those are their favorites…. They are still trapped into their favoritism and favorite subject….

When we closely observe our day to day life……our favoritism will be very much evident…which may be out of our conscious choice or intuitive decision based upon the references we follow…..

It is quit unfair the way we have been taught and evolved through the civilization ……we may be fair or unfair in having some favorites ….

The Phenotypic and Genotypic variations proving the fact that each and every individual is different Genetically, Physiologically…..For me this may be the reason for one to have his distinct choice they make…

I understand the unfair favoritism which sabotage people should not be placed in modern globe we belongs to….as every individual has to be measured against himself not others….Thus generalization has no meaning…..it would be beneficial to look oneself in the mirror and feel proud for what he is …and what he would be…..Yes my Monday you are welcome once in a week….

Are We Matured Enough The Way We Think We Are!!!

When I and my friend on a Sunday evening sat in one of the parks in Rajajinagar our discussion evolved around many known and unknown topics…not surprisingly the talk revolved around some peculiar characters among our friends as usual a non substitutable part of discussion whenever we meet up…. Whenever we start talk about one specific friend the common criticism about him is that he is not matured enough…..

During college days...Those who do not bunk classes with us are immature fellows from our point of view…those who have not come for first day first show movie with us ….those who are not able to fool parents and get bench fees……and those ever not part of our extravaganza are all considered immature ones….

This maturity topic is still hold true to our contemporaries even after substantial amount of years out from college….still some of our friends are not matured as we …this is what we have to say about us…this hold true that every other person that he thinks that he is matured than his counterpart…

As all of us knew maturity is not directly proportional to the age…. except physically, it is not true that the more age we become the more we mature we attain …..

The other day I had to meet my friend who suspects his father’s maturity for the words he spoke during a period of crisis ….

Maturity is always travels from a level of Dependence to a level of Independence to a level of Interdependence….

A matured mind will think about interdependence and will reflect this understanding in what ever words spoke or whatever act performed….

We can not be understood by others as matured as long as our words and deeds reflect that we show dependence to others and their opinion ….or too much independence from others and their opinions ……

When we could see both sides of the sword ….when we can understand both sides of the same story …when we do not judge people by one season….when we do not generalize things…when we do not agitate or panic when untoward incidents happen…when we tend to be balanced can be considered to be matured ones…

Like love maturity does not be anger….does not find faults…does not know ego…does not tend to dominate ….maturity tend to listen… maturity is slow in passing judgments….it does not provoke…. In a sense both love and maturity are indistinguishable….are we matured enough? In other sense, are we good in loving others?

Through Her By Her and For Her

It was raining in the evening heavily at about 5.42 PM on the 21 st of June that was the time my mother got her Motherhood pleasure (Labor Pain)…..

My mother use to tell me that she had severe pain to give me birth when compared to my brothers…in my childhood days it was difficult for her to keep me in home with out incurring damage to the household things…I was a nightmare for my mom in those days… that may be the reason why she loves me little more than my brothers …..

When we all children stay in home on a given day, you can be rest to sure that a parliament has to be convened in the evening to resolve a huge list of issues….my mom was a good Speaker, Finance Minister and Home Minister ….and deputy Prime Minister too….

I remember my early days of childhood cherished with my moms love….the way she carried me in her arms to the church every Sunday….that warmth of my mom is still in my aura…. when I was in school getting up in the morning was difficult for me….this was my mom’s patented technique to wake me up from the sleep by wetting her one end of the Saree in water and wipe my eye lids slowly …..there goes my sleep…..I remember the days she let me to sleep allowing me to enjoy my childhood keeping away my undue tensions … she has burnt nights during examination time to keep all of us children awake and study….I have never seen her lose her temper to be angry with us…..

The only time I could sense the pure love …selfless love…is my mother's love....which expect nothing but a receiving end her children….to the motherly love I am indebted to…I understand the strength of a mother’s love, specially when people goes through tough and difficult times …

The only person stands by to support the child during difficult times is a mother….Tiger Wood’s mother is of no exception…my mother's hugs during difficult times are much stronger than my father’s logical advices…..I will be indebted to her for the purest love she fed me through her milk and words… In all the sense my mom and dad weigh equal to me …but when it comes to love my mom scores over my dad….My gratitude to my mom… I love my mom…...my wishes to all the women in medreich and all around the globe....wishing you all a meaningful women's day!

Frog Curry

There was a farmer living near his farm land, adjacent to a pond with beautiful lotus and lily….. The monsoon has just over and the pond was full of water. The farmer returning to home tired after work was not able to sleep these days because of the disturbance of noise…. The noise was breaking the sky uninterruptedly… the farmer’s family was disturbed …One night the farmer told his wife that he will do something about it to abolish this noise interruption …..The pond is full of frogs….make a hell lot of noise…I will try to do something about it….he whispered …

The next day morning the farmer dressed up well and went to a near by town, after going through many lanes he found out one hotel….

He approached the hotel owner and told him that…Sir I gone through your menu list and was surprised that you do not have any frog menu (frog curry)….

The owner replied and said…Dear gentleman having a frog menu is a good idea ,in fact we had frog menu earlier and had to withdraw from our menu due to lack of frog supply…..

The farmer was happy listening this and told the owner to have an agreement with him for the frog supply. It was agreed that 100 frog legs will be supplied everyday from the next day……

The farmer got his advance and returned home happily…

He was waiting for the night to come so that he can start the frog catch…

In the night with a torch light and a bag in hand he started catching frogs….

In the morning he took a taxi and reached the hotel…..the hotel owner was shocked and surprised seeing the farmer holing only 4 frog legs in his hands…

The farmer started crying and apologizing with the owner and told him that “Sir hearing at the intensity of noise I thought that there will be hundreds and thousands of frogs but when I really went for the catch I found that only these two frogs making all the noise…

The deal was broken the farmer paid back the advance ….travelling back home the farmer laughed at him for thinking to much about the frog noise….

The diary of the farmer reads like this….When we hear negative or destructive criticism from one or two persons we think that the whole world is talking about us negatively, our thoughts are occupied by the negative remarks and we go into the shell of complex …keep aside the negative or un constructive criticism and march with true knowledge about constructive criticisms….

Whenever there is much noise about you, think that there is only one or two persons making those noise not the whole world (only for unhealthy destructive criticisms).

For My Grandchildren to Come

You are not considered part of a vibrant school kids group if you do not own a copy of harry potter in home and don’t play video games in your dad’s laptop. If you do not carry a blackberry, then you don’t belong to corporate freq or a frequent traveler. Similarly if you don’t talk about global terrorism and climate change nowadays then you may be considered outdated person among the intellectuals. So better we too talk about it! .

Terrorism and Climate change are the two top political agenda of the developed and developing countries apart from the owes of reversing the global trade slow down, Recession and Depression. It was funny for me to know that ,the Recession is called as Depression when the GDP is de-growing by more than 10%....another way of defining this two terms would be …when a neighbor lose his job it is called as Recession and when we lose the job it is called as Depression….

Let us also join the elite group by discussing about these two hot topics. (The hottest for us now would be something between Mr.Yeddiurappa and Reddy brothers)

What these climate changes mean to me? Do I know anything about it? Whether it has affected me in anyway? The answer for these questions would be. Climate change means nothing to me. I know that it is going to affect the very livelihood of mankind on the earth in the future. No it has not affected me yet.

Then should I be really bothered about it…..off course yes….knowing the fact that the earth, water recourses, climate and whatever natural resources I have for me today is because of the great grand fathers preserved, fostered it for me …and gifted through their judicial use ….then should I not pass on the benefits rather fears to my generations to come…yes it is my duty, responsibility and obligation to preserve the globe and earth and hand it over to the future generation their fundamental rights….

The prescription for both these syndromes climate change and terrorism can come from many doctors, scholars and learned experts on these subjects…..but as a quack doctor myself I would like to draw the remedies from the school of Gandhiji and the gardens of Gandigiri…I hope this is an attempt to find a panacea from well known medicaments.

The remedy for terrorism will be from the tonic of Ahimsa, tolerance and intolerance. Show tolerance for fellow citizen and show intolerance only through Ahimsa.

Regarding the second syndrome, he says “the earth has enough for human need but not for human greed” …what a remedy….a long term cure….not a quick fix….because we know that short term solutions are long term problems….long term solutions may not come out of quick fixes.

If we start to use our natural resources judicially….devastations of magnanimous magnitude can be prevented in the future….

No amount of sitting and talking will do good than getting out and plant trees and preserve the one already there…spreading awareness and demonstrating by living as an example by planting trees on all household ceremonies ,festivals and special worship days. Spiritual leaders can instigate people to plant trees as a religious ritual replacing the foolish and meaningless ones…..

I hope I make some sense by talking …let me make more sense by actually doing what I am talking….Please let us save the planet earth for our grand children…. Will our grandchildren own this planet earth their very fundamental right….

In The Name of Celebrations

As I write this I wish that somebody should not assume that I am against neither celebration nor any festival, having presumed life itself a celebration?

The universal meaning and the essences of celebrations are Togetherness, Brotherhood, Giving and Sharing.

Knowing the fact of poverty, illiteracy and helplessness all around the world, the needy people around us in our neighborhood. I am certainly against the exhibitionism, the senseless celebrations (not the celebration!) and meaningless expenditures in connection to the universal festivals and functions including the one of marriage and household ceremonies. Few of us may try to justify our generosity and social concern by offering one time meal or few sweets or few dresses to some orphanage children or old age homes. That’s all.

Irrespective of socio economic and religious groups these senseless celebrations in the name of god are not in unison with the very fundamental reason these festivals made for. I am convinced that the exhibitionism linked to these celebrations are not in line with social responsibility and human concerns and even to the wish of so called gods and goddess.

I understand the commercial aspect of any festival celebration and their involvement in the flow of liquid cash and its invincible role in the trade drive and commerce.

All festivals for that matter linked with the trade of Textiles ,Gold ,Essences, Eateries ,Potteries, Groceries and what not Luminous Fire Crackers …Spending and Lending apart from Drinking!…(the sale of liquor in each state during festival day is worth around 200 crore rupees!)..Those who have more than sufficient spent from their surplus …those who don’t have borrow and spend …..But ideally the celebrations should be the forum in which the one who have must share with the one who do not have and celebrate together equally….as all are not blessed with equal opportunities and the life is not fair to all at once.

Festival season is the time to exhibit our love, kindness and generosity to all those who around …an occasion to lit light in some ones life.
But these days it turned out to be the exhibition of our material wealth and supremacy….the essence of celebrations were spoilt over this exhibitionism money over modesty. Showing off over giving off! There is no more joy in giving than showing off!!…

Kids were showing off how much more fire crackers they have over their counterparts and the adults in many more ways….
Instead of spreading light, joy, happiness and wellbeing at the end of the day these celebrations make us exhausted and tired why? Are we far from reality as we far from our God! As Mr.Narayan Murthy said it would be better to have a capitalistic mind and a socialistic heart.

Mango Oh Mango

I may be one among you…aspire for eatables when they are not there in the home or fruits when in off season…when mom make Dosa…I prefer Idly….Rasam over Sambar….or Sambar over Rasam…whenever they are not there to have .. Many of the time my mom finds it difficult as the population of my civil family is around a two digit number….still we demand our mother and she make it sometime as she loves us a lot….

But with nature we cannot demand so……even though nature is a beautiful mother…she knows to provide things according to her seasons…not according to our reasons! Summer in winter and ….spring when it is autumn….is greed than what?

Two months back it was the season for mangos….mangos everywhere….. Tempting yellow and dark green with shades of redness….where ever you go the mango follows!!!…..
But my mango desire came only after two months of the season…and is of no surprise….as I was walking into a fruit stall to get some mangos …the prize of which came to my surprise….took me to my childhood memories….in our village…we never have the habit of buying mangos…because it is plenty around if it is not in our garden, may be the garden next to …you are free to take with permission….but

Who will ask permission in the age of late childhood and early adolescent….we just throw stones….if we throw 10 stone one mango may turn down by the time the owner of the garden too….we just run and escape….but slowly through experience we expertise the art of Mango-ing….we know the right stone ….right distance ..The right speed and the right target…when we reach late adolescence 8 out of 10 stones will turn with mangos….

I hope this paradox will fit into our modern day corporate and business…when in the early growing stage of the business we may be happy for the one mango out of 10 stones forgetting about the 9 stones of wasted resource time and energy…as long as the mango is there we may be happy….but as the business grows …we may (should) know the right stone and a right person to throw to the right distance and target…now not only mango alone.. but how many mango out of how many stone and out of how many attempts…not only the mango but how(ethics) and through whom …..In nut cell ….

Quality of a business is simply to me is quality persons in a quality process and with quality resource hitting quality product or service with some ethics ….am I making some sense through this Mango-ing….(you are welcome with your comments and opinion)

Threshold

To be Too good is too bad?… …it is better always to be fair seeing from both the extremes…..that does not mean a state of numbness but in a state of balanced vigil……it is something like looking from above things …and behave with a sense of clarity rather conflict of mind and confusion…it is like being there right away and live the moment which is meant to be….if we are too good, then we are deserved only to be in the heavens with angels(what use being in the earth)…..too bad then nothing to say more, where we live itself hell for us…..

Knowing the threshold in between so as to be called fair enough is more than enough …..And this will make us suitable to be in the planet earth with other follow people who know to be fair in their approach…. It is like walking on the rope if I am not exaggerating! we should know the balance of the rope and to balance our walk on the rope……

One such rope can be called as relationship or job or whatever the choice of rope we mean. We should know the threshold and balance ….we should know to master the art of balancing ….and it is possible if we have some understanding about the threshold of man, matters and materials and even money.

Knowing the threshold of emotions of individuals will be handy to balance the act….you can not be in this end or that end …instead should come in between to strike the right balance so as to have a win-win relationship, to strike a balance to be fair and acceptable. Neither right nor left … in the case of walking on a rope …balance is the great deal…

In profession, friendship….and wherever human phenomena is involved knowing the threshold of the matters and people and their emotions are very essential for us to balance and to be fair …to live and to accomplish… by the way let us know our threshold of our ability and potential….before really getting into judge somebody else’s threshold….

The Oil in Water Will Come Up!

Certain people inspire us the way they live their life ….the vital radiating energy they spread across the known and unknown people around them makes them even more special to be remembered….their circle of influence is far beyond boundaries of their physical presence……

In a way I am extremely happy to write about Dr.Rajan Santhosam a Cardiothoracic Surgeon from Chennai…..I saw him first in a hospital at about 6am in the morning with his snow white apron walking in 100 mile per hour speed on the corridors on his way to his regular rounds to attend his patients in the wards…the gray haired, short ,thunder speed person of about my grandfather’s age rushing past me like a lightning …I could not take my eye away from him….my heart just got attached with him….my mind was curious to know about him….

Dr.Rajan’s day starts by 6am with the ward rounds and any one can follow through his day till 12 am (mid night ) until he reaches his home…a power packed activity filled day his days….ward rounds to operation theaters …consultations …conferences and meeting ….he is one Doctor available round the clock for his patients ,friends and colleagues and his family…..the beauty of him is not the amount of work he performs or the number of people he meets in a day…the beauty is no one can never see him over occupied with his work….he will be at ease and natural even amides his sandwiched schedule…… his smile will overflow and run through the places he walks through….

Dr.Rajan is an example for such an attitude positive attitude….
His attitude towards his job… his patients…his attitude towards every other person he meets and talks…over and above his attitude about life…makes him more special in my life…..there is no narrowness, no crawl mind or selfishness….Only a clear conscious mind with right attitude can make a person to behave or to respond to life the way Dr.Rajan behaves and responds…..

In the case of Dr.Rajan or people like him, what makes them lovable, approachable and admirable is their genuine attitude….a transparent agenda about life and people around…
In relationships our attitude about the other person determines the depth of the relationship in result…..
Among the colleagues the attitude of one towards other determines their respect to each other and the relationship thereon….

In trades the attitude of the merchant towards his customer determines the attitude of the customers towards the merchant….the customer relationship is build on the intangible lines of attitudes.
The inner hidden attitude of a person translates in terms of his intentions and will reflect in the body language and sometime through their verbal and non verbal communications ….how best we pretend to be fine with the person or situation….only the hidden attitude determines the outcome of a relationship or a situation…..all looking good…or all talking good will not make good outcomes …it is the hidden inner attitude makes a good outcome….

It is profitable to set our attitude right in the first place than to find thousand ways to pretend to be right…. Right attitude will come up like oil in deep waters.....

Excellence or Silence!!!

When excellence is possible good is not going to be good enough!

Easily said than ever done! Certainly cannot say never done!

Striving for excellence will exponentially push us up to the competitive edge and will transform something an average to the best, and somebody of good to great and to excellence!

In a personal, family and organizational level, in addition to the quest for economic prosperity, little thirst for excellence in all possible areas of life will make a life of perspiration into celebration.

When becoming an excellent communicator would be possible, still for something less than to our potential we settle! Out of complacence as the people whom we interact are known? Or we compromise thinking this standard is enough for these people?

When becoming an excellent parent is at a reach with a little stretch….putting it off to be a sober one, will do good for whom?

The list may go like this to many of our day to day activities we do and the roles we perform……

Disempowering thought like this “when the beneficiary of me striking excellence is not me why to strive for excellence?” .Disempowering thoughts will lower ones self esteem; pull down families and social groups.

Empowering thought are the essentials for the one whom to excel!

Striving for excellence is a kind of meditation, the more we think, talk and work about it the more we Excel!

This needs a composed persona, conflict free spirit and a determined thought!

Knowing all these will take us nowhere but a little of action performed on the right direction is the road to excellence!!

Whether our silences will take us to excellence!

The Beautiful Manager

By the side of a highway…On the pedestrian platform…..One small foldable table and a stool, few flowers of jasmine, marigold, green leave and threads. This is what her enterprise, and capital investment in terms of money. The grace in which the trade is being carried on ….which cannot be measured by any metric system of economics. A matchless harmony in which she does the business. Busy threading the flowers…focused only in threading….nothing does seem to bother her. Either the vehicles passing by or the pedestrians walking across. The selling and buying happens in between as naturally as a gentle breeze passing us…I presume this is one place women doesn’t attempt to bargain!..

Every day almost every day…week day or holiday, rainy or hot and humid day….ordinary or festive day. The enterprise is still on and the business as usual. A silent transaction …No hawking….No canvassing ….No convincing of customers…

What a beautiful manager she is! She knows the trade, the demand and supply, purchase each and every nuances of her trade. As the commodity she sells is a perishable item, how meticulous the planning and execution should be, so that the profit to be ensured.

What a beautiful managers these flower and fruit vendors are…I tend to measure myself with these off Harvard and off IIM managers….intend to observe and learn from them….how they make things look very simple and smooth…and as natural as possible.

The flowers on the table do not fail themselves to teach me wisdom that what a beautiful life we have when compared to those short lived beautiful flowers….life is worth living and living happily with out complaining …making things simple and natural….

Ever Experienced This Joy!

It was a Saturday evening, back home from office wandering on the balcony, glancing the west sky the vintage beauty of settling sun, the untiring provider of life to the universe…..

In one corner of the street three kids were playing over the gravel heap wearing only the upper dress keeping the bottom uncovered.…which typically resemble to the truth about any nations rich and poor population…..the dress code of those were true reflection of their helplessness and poverty….hopefully those are the kids of the laborer who are in the tent erected in front of that construction buildings around….

The female head of the tent was washing the vessels sitting on the road side…..
On the terrace opposite to my house Neha, Jeevan and his brother were playing….I could hear the ringing bell other end of the street….
The decibel starts increasing as the rays of a rising early morning sun…..

Ananthra who stays in the ground floor of the house comes out holding an unfolded 10 rupees note in her hands….The kwality Ice cream seller has reached by now, Ananthra was buying one….
There comes the three half covered ones the big one carrying the smallest in the group in his hip….came close to Ananthra and the kwaility vehicle…like Somalian pirates wanting for an ice cream…..it was not gun in their hands but could sense the begging mode they were in …..

Adithya the brother of Ananthra came out and chased her into the house (virtually pushed her)…..he bought three more may be for himself, Mom and Dad ….By this time Adithya’s father came out and tried to chase the three around…..if they were Somalian pirates only the blood will prevail this time….but tears were about to roll down…

Neha’s Grandma who reached to the terrace by this time, was looking down all these happenings so far…..and slowly but suddenly she rushed down and bought ice cream for the three Neha & company who were playing on the terrace….she had not stopped there but bought two more for the three gentle men(by now you remember them as Somalia pirates)…..this act of kindness and social responsibility is what worth mentioning here…..how much of joy, happiness and satisfaction that small act of kindness might have brought to that grandma…what might have made her to do the kind act which the other persons were not willing to do ….or comfortably denied…

During the Nobel Prize acceptance speech Her Holiness Mother Theresa said that God has not created poor and rich in this world…poor and rich exist because man started to hold more than what is his requirement…and he is not willing to give or share with others what is in excess …this tendency of the mankind has created poor and rich…..the existence of poor and rich is not the act of God but the making of men…

She goes on and says….poverty exist as different manifestations and magnitude in every home every neighborhood and every country….
Poverty for love, affection, honor and recognition ….and so on….
She urged the communities to heal those poverties exist inside home, the neighborhood and in countryside….This is possible only by giving the deserving needy the need…whether it may be money, love or so on….

The words of a great philosopher is as follows, “those who are capable of giving is rich and those who only gets and not give are the only poor ones”….
Are we rich enough or starving in poverty ….are we able to give to the needy with out holding stingy …Giving is a Joyful Experience….

Have you ever experienced the joy of giving …?

(All the names used are imaginative to protect the identity)

Happiness

In the journey called life what does happiness mean …?

The feeling of wellbeing, the intangible feeling of being in the euphoric ecstasy and illusion which gives a sense of being good and comfort…..
In the globalized rat race of competence do we consistently live in happiness …or it is a barren experience only good to read and write on papers….

In an afternoon, a call from one of my friends created a sense of happiness an inexplicable emotional state of wellbeing ……walking on the grass bare foot ….talking to the pet dog… listening to good music ….a good hot water bath…. cycling….having a dinner with family on the terrace ….seeing a new born baby…kisses of Grandma….a beach side meditation…..reading a favorite author…..watching the rising sun….a hug from the dad….game with friends….watering the garden…a way long walk…..innumerable such smaller things which brings happiness….a sense of being good…

This intangible asset happiness is the desire of the whole universe …
When the very basic necessities are lacking, the mind is longing for it so that it can have happiness…it is true that the basic necessities will bring happiness…but that happiness cease to end the moment the needs are met……
Now the mind starts to aspire for the luxuries of life, attempting to be happy ….even the luxuries fail to give the enduring happiness…..
When luxuries add up, things will be of more artificial…in the peak of luxury the nature dies….

The lives filled with luxuries of life, still longs for the happiness….
The mind starts to run behind the material objects, the happiness is only for the moment …the next moment the happiness may flew away….then the mind will start to run behind a next bigger object, even this attempt will not going to ensure an enduring happiness….

The bird of happiness is not belongs to the cages…but heavens….obviously
they have not contained in the cages of material objects….but in the natural minds.

The perspective of value system will help us to understand few truths about happiness and being happy….
The values can be classified as …The Mean Values and The End Values…..
The Mean Values are material things like car, house, money, wealth, .etc

The End Values are immaterial things like Happiness, Joy, Smile, Hope, Confidence…so on....
The wise way to live in consistent happiness is balancing equally both the Mean Values and the End Values….

As the End Values are intangible in nature and free from tangible Mean Values…..
The good news is that one can experience the end values like happiness and joy with out the influence of any mean values by focusing the mind in the paths of godly meditation and by sticking to the truth….

Let us start smile at each other ….and spread the happiness all over again and again….

Troubling Waters

In the cross roads of life
When I stand still
You hold my hands
Lead me through your valleys of hope...

When no rays of hope to live
Nothing seems to move
You make my way
Lead me through your highway...

When all the resources dry
To help no one try
You stretch your hand
Lead me through your heavenly riches...

In my darkest day
On my lonely way
He sparks his light
Lead me through your mighty powers...

When I tend to quit the game of life
Seem like the end has come
You turn to me
Lead me through your abundance endure...

When shame falls upon
Guilt covers my face
Your mercy falls on me
Lead me through your gracious protection...

In my downfall
When my enemies rejoice
You lift me up and
Lead me through my high places...

Every day I am awake
Every breath I take
Every step I make
Everything I seek
Everything I aspire
Everything I desire

It all must be from you
Must be by you
Must be by you my heavenly father God
